This group of three muscles actually spans across two different joints: the hip and the knee. The bulk of these muscles is located on the back of your thigh and are frequently referred to as "hammies"

Did You Know?
One of the muscles in this group is actually called the biceps femoris.
Butchers used to hang pig legs by stringing a hook through the tendons in their thigh muscles. This is where the name 'hamstrings' came from.
